‘I Need You’ Is Not Weakness

Genesis 2:18
God said it was not good for the man to be alone. Marriage was never designed as two isolated lives sharing an address; it is a partnership in which each spouse brings strength, support, perspective, and care.
Saying ‘I need you’ is not a confession of helplessness. Healthy interdependence means we can stand as whole people before God while still receiving the gift of one another. Pride says, ‘I can do everything alone.’ Love says, ‘Your presence and contribution matter to me.’
Your spouse cannot replace God, heal every wound, or meet every need. But they can be one of God’s chosen instruments of companionship and grace. Make room to give help without controlling and to receive help without shame.
Reflection question
Is pride keeping me from receiving my spouse’s help, wisdom, or care?
Prayer
Lord, free us from unhealthy dependence and stubborn independence. Teach us the beauty of leaning on You and supporting one another with humility, wisdom, and love. Amen.
Today’s step
Tell your spouse one way their presence strengthens your life, then ask for their help with one real need.
