Covenant Love Keeps Choosing

Malachi 2:14

A covenant is more than a feeling and deeper than a contract. Feelings rise and fall; circumstances change; but covenant love keeps choosing faithfulness. In Malachi 2:14, God calls marriage a covenant because He takes seriously the promises husband and wife make to one another.

There will be days when loving your spouse feels easy and days when it requires grace, patience, and sacrifice. On difficult days, the question is not simply, ‘Do I feel loved?’ but ‘How can I be faithful to the covenant we made before God?’

Covenant love does not ignore harm or pretend problems do not exist. It chooses honesty, repentance, forgiveness, wise boundaries, and the patient work of rebuilding trust. Every faithful choice strengthens what God joined together.

Where is God asking me to choose covenant faithfulness over temporary emotion?

Prayer

Lord, help us remember the covenant we made before You. Give us grace to keep choosing faithfulness, honesty, forgiveness, and love. Strengthen our marriage for Your glory. Amen.
