One Heart, One Mission

Philippians 2:2

Paul describes unity as being like-minded, sharing the same love, and becoming one in spirit and purpose. Marriage flourishes when two people see themselves not merely as companions but as partners in a God-given mission.

Your mission may include raising children, serving your community, building a peaceful home, supporting one another’s calling, practising generosity, or becoming a safe place for others. Whatever its expression, shared purpose lifts marriage beyond the daily question, ‘Who is doing more?’ and invites a better one: ‘What are we building together?’

Unity does not require identical gifts. One spouse may envision while the other organises; one may nurture quietly while the other leads visibly. Different contributions can serve one mission when both are valued and surrendered to God.

If someone observed our marriage, what shared purpose would they say we are living for?

Prayer

Lord, make us one in love, spirit, and purpose. Show us how our different gifts can serve the mission You have entrusted to our marriage. Keep competition out and partnership strong. Amen.
